Description
You might be wondering what is the story behind the Whippoorwill Club’s name – well, wonder no more! The nightjar birds live around the territory of this course and they can be often heard here, which adds up to the atmosphere – as well as the 18-hole Donald Ross’ design course introduced back in the 1920s. The layout was later changed by Seth Raynor, when the club was expanded, using the best features of the rolling terrain and lush greens. The 8th hole is considered a signature one of the whole property because of the small waterfall behind the greens – a beautiful touch to the overall perfectly-manicured layout.
The total length of the course is 6636 yards in total, with a slope of 142 and a rating of 72.7. Practice facilities include the newly renovated short game practice area, where golfers can warm up or polish their skills.
Three different membership categories are available at the Whippoorwill Club: the Regular, Tennis/Paddle (with access only to racquet sports) and House Membership (for social activities and events only). Please note that membership is by invitation only, so you need to be acquainted with someone who has good standing at the club to be introduced and sponsor your membership candidacy.
