Sometimes everyone needs an opportunity to escape from the bustle of the big city – and The Tuxedo Club aims to provide just that, maintaining its status as “one of the most unique private clubs in the world”. The reasoning behind such exclusivity lies in the club’s deep involvement in American golf history because the first interclub match was hosted by Tuxedo and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
The 18-hole golf course can be explored virtually, however, visitors may find the scorecard contents a little bit scarce (only yardage and pars are indicated, along with some photos). A distinctive feature of the course is the Summit Brook as its main water body, and players will have to consider several other streams and ponds while planning their shots.
Members can enjoy not only golf, as other facilities provide many different types of entertainment, including fitness, swimming pools, 5 racquet sports venues, an operating boathouse and even an ice-skating rink! After that everyone can socialize and enjoy their resting time at the two clubhouses.
Those who consider joining must take into consideration that this is a traditional private club governed by its members, and you can become a member only if you receive an invitation, but you can also try contacting the club’s membership director for details.
