Nothing shouts of luxury as the fact that The Golf Club of Purchase has been repeatedly referred to as the place for game and recreation for the Wall Street “big shots”, according to the Business Insider magazine. And, by all means, this place doesn’t seek to draw attention, as even the club’s official website shares a bare minimum of information – you’ll find only directions and contact information there, which will push the golf newbies away. One could call it a major drawback, but what is important to understand is that this club is not designed to be a place for everyone – it is exclusive, and the club aims to highlight that in any way possible.
From the little information available for non-members, the course itself is a Jack Nicklaus’ classical Westchester layout, fused into woodland to present a challenge to the sophisticated players. The 18-hole 6,876 yards (par of 72) course is not very long, but the game here will be a rigorous test, as it is expertly designed to test even experienced golfers.
As a members-owned establishment, the Golf Club of Purchase is almost impossible to join, and it has a solid reputation as a place for “people with money”. An expensive restaurant and bar are also available at the clubhouse, which has been recently renovated.
