The first thing to know about the Rye Golf Club is that its territory is indeed huge: 126 acres in the total area covered by the main golf course and additional facilities. The Evereux Emmet 18-hole course is accompanied by fantastic views of Long Island Sound: there are lakes and ponds which make up for beautiful scenery.
The overall atmosphere is far from being elite or luxurious: preference is given to the maintenance of a casual friendly environment for everyone to enjoy, so you might consider this option if you are an amateur player looking for a course to spend time at with your friends or family.
While it is a closed club, meaning that only members and their guests can attend, the annual membership is quite affordable, and no initiation fees are expected to be paid by newcomers. There are different membership categories, designed to provide an individual approach to the new players, so you are most recommended to inquire about them in advance.
Aside from the 18-hole championship course, members are offered free golf locker rooms, swimming and wading pools, an indoor golf learning center (a great feature for the beginners), a restaurant and bar, as well as the golf pro shop – in case you need to but some equipment before your round.
