Description
With so many private membership golf clubs out there, finding a decent public golf course appears to be an overwhelming (and sometimes disappointing) experience, but the public Ravenwood Golf Club challenges that stereotype. Located one mile northeast of Victor, this club is considered one of the best public golf courses in the New York area.
The course was designed by renowned architect Robin Nelson, best known for his international projects in the Hawaiian Islands and other parts of the world. A map of the golf course can be found on the site, along with scorecards, illustrative photographs and descriptions of possible terrain challenges players will encounter. The views are indeed impressive: you will be able to enjoy the rich green landscape, soft slopes and small groves throughout the game.
While the pros can immediately move into the open field, beginners and amateurs alike can practice their club-swinging skills in practice facilities. These include a 12,000 square-foot practice green next to the first tee, seven target greens and a special short game practice area, including a bunker. Upon request, training programs from club specialists are also available.
Prices for tee times range from $22 to $69 and largely depend on the current season and on which day of the week the booking is scheduled. Small tip: you can save a lot if you choose the option to play without a golf cart ride and move from one hole to the next on foot.
