Description

You might be surprised, but the premier-quality Pound Ridge Golf Club is accessible to everyone – it is not exactly a “public” golfing establishment, but tees can be booked by anyone in advance. The golf course at Pound Ridge was designed by the famous Pete Dye and received numerous accolades from professionals and golf magazines: it was ranked first among Open-Worthy Public Courses by Golf Magazine and was included in the list of best 18 Public Golf Holes in the NYC Metro Area by NY Post.

The course map features 18 holes in a traditional links design: the layout includes extensive greens, water bodies and ponds, which make the experience even more enjoyable from the aesthetical point of view. Professional players say that some of the holes are “gimmicky” and “quirky”, meaning that they present a challenge even for experienced players. But beginners may also find their time at Pound Ridge enjoyable because instructions are available and provided by the group of renowned PGA professionals, led by Brad Worthington.

While booking must be made online in advance, payments are on arrival only. Prices are $85-$165 for a group of 4 players – affordable if compared to membership fees in other clubs.
