One of the main features of the Manhattan Woods Golf Club is the Golf Academy of the same name established on its grounds. It offers private golf instructions led by the PGA golf professional Jason Birnbaum – “Best-in-State” teacher in New York for 2021-2022, according to Golf Digest. At the academy, you can find coaching programs, tailored with the consideration for players of all ages and skill levels.

As for the golf course itself, it is a 5,090-7,100 yards 18-hole layout with five tee sets to satisfy players of all skill levels. This championship design was provided by Gary Player in collaboration with Brian Silva, Geoff Cornish and Stephen Kay: their combined work resulted in the challenging course with numerous elevation changes, wetland areas and preferable conditions which makes this layout a “must-play” for golf connoisseurs. For the teaching purposes of the Academy, there is also a separate short-game area with bunkers, rough, uphill/downhill shots and wedge shots up to 70 yards long, and a 6,000-square-foot practice putting green.

This club a golf-only, meaning that this is probably not the best place for socializing – however if you were long looking for a place to learn and improve, Manhattan Woods may be your best shot (no pun intended!). While lessons at the Academy can be booked online, membership inquiries should be made via the contact information provided – there is not much written about it on the official website.
