Description
The Country Club of Troy positions itself as an establishment “one of people, not facilities” – meaning that their family-friendly atmosphere and various physical activities will ensure a great time for you and your significant ones.
The club owners claim that their golf course is the “most scenic” in the Capital District – and there is some truth behind this statement because players can enjoy a fantastic view over the Catskill Mountains on a clear day. Designed by Walter Travis, this expertly manicured 18-hole course is laid out on 325 acres of land and features luscious greens with some interesting internal contours, which can make it quite challenging to plan your shots. There are no teaching programs or instructions available, though, so it’s safe to assume that you need to possess at least some experience to enjoy your time here.
As for the additional activities, you can engage in a round of tennis on five tennis courts with red clay surface – a rarity in upstate New York. The Olympic-sized swimming pool is available during the summer season, and there is also a small kiddy pool for the youngest members of the club.
No invitation is needed to become a member, but what’s interesting is that you have to pay monthly, not annually – a good way to save your budget, if you are not into the game of golf during the winter season. Individual fees start at 300$, while a family membership will cost you around 800$ per month.
